SCRIPTURE OF THE
DAY: Matthew
27:11-26
PSALM OF THE
WEEK: Psalm
26
HYMN OF THE
DAY: CH#208
“He Never Said a Mumblin’ Word” http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/h/n/hnsmword.htm
VERSE OF THE
DAY: Now
Jesus stood before the governor; and the governor asked him, “Are you the King
of the Jews?” Jesus said “You say so.” Matthew 27:11
NRSV
Is Jesus the Christ? You say
so. What other people say just doesn’t count. It is what you say – and how you live it out – that
matters. Jesus told Pilate that Pilate had to answer the charge for
himself. Pilate’s answer is a bit confusing. The answer establishes
Jesus’ innocence (see verse s 23a & 24b), yet on the required document
stating what he was guilty of, Pilate wrote that Jesus was the “king of the
Jews” (see Matthew 27:37) and refused to change it (see John 19:20-22). So
did Pilate say Jesus was King nor not? Only God knows for sure.
Others shouldn’t have to guess about what you think. It should be obvious
with both your words and your actions. Both should be clear whether you
believe in Christ or not. We should say he is our Lord in both. This, then
is just following what Jesus said, “You say
so.”
PRAYER: O King of my
life; may my actions and my words be pleasing in your sight. Help me
proclaim your Lordship to the world around me with what I say and with what my
actions say even louder. May others come to know that Jesus really is the
King, the Messiah, the Christ, and the Risen Savior of the World, through me.
Amen.
See you in Church
Sunday,
Pastor
Sandy
