SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: Matthew 28:1-20

PSALM OF THE WEEK: Psalm 26

HYMN OF THE DAY: CH#222 “Christ is Risen! Shout Hosanna!” [no link available]

VERSE OF THE DAY: But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid.” Matthew 28:5a NRSV

If you had just experienced an earthquake that opened up a grave and then there was on one in it, except for a fiery angel, how would you feel?  Yet the first words out of the angel’s mouth were, “Do not be afraid.” (See verse 5) The next thing the angel said was, “Go and tell ‘he has been raised!’” (See verse 7) This is the angelic Easter message.  Do not be afraid to go and tell that Jesus has been raised.  Sometimes it may seem too intimidating to go out and tell people about the Lord and Savior who was crucified, buried, and resurrected to give us all the gift of eternal life.  Yet, the words of that angel still hold for today.  Since God raised Jesus back to life, what can we possibly be afraid of?  Any God that will do that, can do anything to help us proclaim his Good News.  The truth is that there is nothing to be afraid of, but a whole world needing to hear that Christ is risen.  Christ is risen, indeed!

PRAYER: O God of The Resurrection; help me boldly proclaim your Good News wherever I can.  Give me the courage I need to be a good Christian and the words I need to speak to those around me. Amen.

See you in Church Sunday,

Pastor Sandy
