SCRIPTURE OF THE

24:36-44
PSALM OF THE
WEEK: Psalm
46
HYMN OF THE
DAY: CH#93
“Praise Him! Praise Him” http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/p/h/phimphim.htm
VERSE OF THE
DAY: “But of
that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but
only the Father.” Matthew 24:36
When will the world end? Some
people are claiming it will be on the winter solstice of 2012 because that’s
when the Mayan calendar ends (the fact that they ran out of stone to print it on
doesn’t seem to enter that theory). Others are claiming that in 2015 there
will be a series of solar and lunar eclipses that fall on the Jewish High Holy
Days so that will be the time. I have a little book that I kept just for people
who think they have it all figured out. The book is all about how the
world is going to end in 1987. Jesus, however, never gave a date because
he didn’t know it. People who think they know the end time are making the
audacious claim that they know more than Jesus Christ knows (see verse 36
above). Actually, every prophecy made in the Bible that must happen before
the Christ returns, has already happened several times. In other words, it
could be at any time. Our job is not to try to figure out the exact time
so we can be smarter than Jesus, but to be ready all the time (see verse
44). Worry about the end time is unproductive. Living your days in
Christ is very productive. Live today like it might be your last chance to live
for Christ.
PRAYER: All Knowing
Father, you know that the people who talk about the Second Coming can be very
disturbing. Help me not to fret or worry about your will but to live every
day for you so that when you call me home, be it at the end of the world or just
the end of my life, I will be ready to joyfully receive my inheritance in your
Eternal Kingdom. Amen.
See you in Church
Sunday,
Pastor
Sandy
