VERSE OF THE DAY: “Servants are fortunate if their master comes and finds them doing their job.” Matthew 24:46 CEV

 

Jesus wants to return to find us, the church, doing our job.  That makes sense.  What is our job?  Our responsibility is to “feed the other servants” (see verse 45).  The church is the place that is to feed everyone.  We take that literally with our health and food ministries like Angel Food Ministries and our Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner.  We also take that spiritually with ministries like these devotions, two Sunday Worship Services, Sunday School, youth ministries, camps, etc.  There have been those in church history, and even in churches today, who think that they can abuse others and do everything their way instead of God’s way (see verses 48-49).  We don’t have to worry about those people; God will deal with them (see verses 50-51).  We just need to make sure we are being the faithful ones who are feeding all those God sends us. 

 

PRAYER: O Lord of the Harvest, continue to feed me in your words so that I may feed others in your name.  May I serve you by serving others in your name. Amen.
