SCRIPTURE OF THE
DAY: 2 Kings
4:8-17
PSALM OF THE
WEEK: Psalm
34
HYMN OF THE
DAY: CH#53
“Morning Has Broken” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ESHjYat9rk
VERSE OF THE
DAY: He
said, “At this season in due time you shall embrace a son.” She replied, “No, my
lord, O man of God; do not deceive your servant.” 2 Kings 4 :16
NRSV
When Elisha repaid the wealthy
Shumenite couple for their hospitality (see verses 9-11) to him, he promised
them the one thing they didn’t have – an heir (see verse 16 above). She
obviously didn’t believe him, yet it happened anyway (see verse 17). God
can work miracles in us and through us even when we apparently don’t have enough
faith. That’s because God is greater than our faith. God’s promises
to us will come true. When doubts assail you, just remember that God
is greater than any doubt you can ever have. God is greater
than our faith can imagine and greater than our doubts can ever question.
Knowing this helps us to grow in our faith. God wants us to grow in our faith.
God can be depended on, even when our own beliefs can’t be. Trust God.
PRAYER: O God of
Miraculous Promises, may I always believe all your promises, especially the one
of eternal life in Christ, and not be tempted to think that your words might be
deceptive. Amen.
See you in Church
Sunday,
Pastor
Sandy
