SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: Matthew 13:44

PSALM OF THE WEEK: Psalm 119:1-16

HYMN OF THE DAY: #610 “Living for Jesus” http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/l/i/livingfj.htm

VERSE OF THE DAY: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”  Matt 13:44 NRSV

Did you ever think of your church as a treasure buried in all the dirt of our society?  Yes, that means the treasure is a little dirty on the outside, but inside it is very valuable.  This is the greatest of all riches.  It is greater than the biggest lottery prize.  It is greater than everything all of us own put together.  That’s how great a treasure the church is.  If you suddenly discovered that the mother lode of gold had a seam exposed on your property would you be happy?  You have that in the church. Are you that happy about it?  The church should be the source of that much happiness.  We have a great church.  Don’t hide your excitement and happiness over it.  It’s okay to express your joy in and for the church.  In our eager attendance, exuberant singing, heartfelt prayers, and generous offerings in corporate worship, as well as our joyful participation in the church’s other ministries, we show God and the world just how enthused and happy we are that God has saved us. Smile, you have a great treasure.  God gave it to you.

PRAYER: O God who saved us and gave us the church to worship you through; thank you for both these great gifts.  Help me be the happy, enthused Christian that shows the world around me just how wonderful your gifts to me are.  Help me share this great treasure with others in your name. Amen.

See you in Church Sunday,

Pastor Sandy
