SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: Matthew 21:1-11

PSALM OF THE WEEK: Psalm 24

HYMN OF THE DAY: CH#192 “All Glory, Laud, and Honor” http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/a/g/aglahonr.htm or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2A4hAU2w7k&feature=related

VERSE OF THE DAY: The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in highest heaven!” Matthew 21:9 NRSV

The people were shouting for joy on that Palm Sunday.  We too should be joyful and shouting our praises to God every Sunday (and every day for that matter).  What ere the people shouting? Hosanna is the English transliteration of the Greek transliteration of the Aramaic word that means “save, I pray” or “save, now, we beseech thee”, depending upon the source.  The people were shouting for joy asking God to save them.  Jesus saves.  They were shouting for joy that they thought Jesus would save them.  Jesus did.  We are saved through Jesus Christ.  Therefore we have even more reason to praise God.  The promise of that day has been delivered. Blesses is the one who came in the name of the Lord.  Blessed are we when the church comes together in the name of the Lord.  Blessed are we when we go forth in his name.

PRAYER: O Lord of Salvation, Holy and Mighty is Your Name! Bless us as we seek to live out your salvation here on earth. Amen.

See you in Church Sunday,

Pastor Sandy
