The son who mouthed off to his
father, but went and did the work is ahead of the son who promised to do the
work, but never did. The people, even the vilest of sinners like the tax
collectors and prostitutes, who may have opposed God, but repented and came to
God are ahead of those who gave lip service to God, but never really lived out
the faith. That’s good news to those who have “a past” but receive Christ
as their savior and bad news to pew warmers who claim to be Christian, but you
would never know it by their lives. There is probably some of each type in
every church. However, as the story points out, it is never too late to
change and really serve God. No matter what we have done (or left undone)
in the past, God’s vineyard still needs the workers. The harvest is great
and the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37). Even if we haven’t always done
God’s will before, now we can. Today, we can be God’s worker in his
vineyard.
PRAYER: O Lord of the
Harvest, make me one of your workers. Forgive all the times I have done
what I wanted to do instead of what you wanted me to do and help me to praise
you with both my words and my actions. Amen.
See you in Church
Sunday,
Pastor
Sandy
