SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: Colossians 1:11-14

PSALM OF THE WEEK: Psalm 18:20-30

HYMN OF THE DAY: CH# 514 “God Who Touches Earth with Beauty” http://members.tripod.com/rockhay/worship/music/godwhotouches.htm

VERSE OF THE DAY: He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14 NRSV

Rescues always make for dramatic news footage.  Whether it is the Coast Guard pulling someone up from the ocean, a little girl being from a well in Texas, or miners in a shaft in Pennsylvania, who can forget those images?  You have also been rescued like that!  That’s right.  We all have had an even more dramatic and dynamic rescue from our own sinful selves.  Jesus Christ rescued us from being away from God by going to the cross for us.  Now, instead of being left to our own devises, we are a part of the family of God.  That calls for a great celebration. We have the joy of salvation in us.  Enjoy the time you have now, for you have been rescued by Christ and given and eternal life now and forever.

PRAYER: O God of Salvation; thank you for rescuing me from me.  I know how much I owe you and it truly is everything.  Help me live a life that shows my gratefulness to you with my service. Amen.

See you in Church Sunday,

Pastor Sandy
