VERSE OF THE
DAY: As you
therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in
him, rooted and built in him and established in the faith, just as you were
taught, abounding in thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6-7
NRSV
We tend to see Thanksgiving as a
once a year time when we host a big free community dinner at First
Christian. Paul reminds us that thanksgiving is a lifestyle, not just a
holiday for turkey, football, and shopping. As we have accepted Christ
Jesus as our savior, we continue to live for him, and do so with abounding
thanksgiving. In Christ we are free. In Christ we are
forgiven. In Christ, we have life eternal, now and forever. In
Christ we have become part of the church, the very Body of Christ, and part of
God’s family forever. What’s there not to be thankful for? God has
already given us everything! We praise God for that by what we do for God,
and how we do it. The best “thank you” we can give to God for this free
gift is by living our lives in the best way we can for God. Live in Faith,
in the Glory of God, and with abounding Thanksgiving. That’s saying “Thank
You” to God.
PRAYER: O God who has
given us everything in Christ; Thank you with all my heart and soul. May
live for you only and truly love you with my whole body, mind, soul, and being,
loving my neighbor as myself, so that they may see that I am truly thankful to
you for what you have done. Amen.
See you in Church
Sunday,
Pastor
Sandy
