SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: Colossians 2:8-19

VERSE OF THE DAY: When you were buried with him in baptism, you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God who raised him from the dead.  Colossians 2:12 NRSV

 

Immersion Baptism is one of the most powerful symbols we have in the church.  When we go under the water we are being “buried with Christ” and when we come out, we are being “raised with him from the dead.”  Christ was crucified for you.  He rose again on the third day: proving that death does not win, he does.  For us to be able to participate in that event with him is an incredible experience.  Having gone through that, we now are energized for a life here on earth showing the world through our actions that we have been “washed in the blood”.  We live out our faith, for we have already died to unfaithfulness, and been raised in the glory of God.

 

PRAYER: O God of Eternal Life; You have called me by name to follow you and given me eternal life.  May I truly live the rest of my life here on earth as your follower in all that I say and do. Amen.
