SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: II Thessalonians 1:5-12

PSALM OF THE WEEK: Psalm 76

HYMN OF THE DAY: CH# 118 “Glorious Is Your Name, O Jesus” [no link available]

VERSE OF THE DAY:  To this end we always pray for you, asking that God will make you worthy of his call and will fulfill by his power very good resolve and works of faith, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.  2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 NRSV

Earlier, I pointed out when Paul wanted the church to pray for him.  Now we see that he also prayed for the church.  It works both ways.  The church members should pray for all their leaders in the church.  The leaders of the church also pray for the other members.  We pray for each other.  We lift each other up in prayer.  We don’t go through this life alone when we are part of a church.  That mutual praying for each other is comforting, encouraging, and uplifting, usually just when we need it the most.  The Lord Jesus Christ is glorified by this.  Within the confines of the church, and within the confines of prayer, we find both our own fulfillment and the glorification of our Christ.  Let us pray for our church, its leaders, and each other, for the glory of God to work through us together.

PRAYER: O God over us all; bless the church, its leadership, and its members.  We all need you.  We all need your Spirit to be upon all we do so that you may receive all the praise and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

See you in Church Sunday,

Pastor Sandy
