VERSE OF THE
DAY: We know
the law is good if a man uses it properly. 1 Timothy 1:8
NIV
According to an old saying, “A lock
keeps an honest man out.” That is the basic idea that Paul communicates
here. The law is good, but is designed to show bad people the error of
their ways (see verses 9-10), not to imprison us into a world of “thou shalt
not’s” that would rob us of the wonderful, joyful life we have in Christ.
Some people now, even as back then, try to teach a legalistic interpretation of
the law, often without any study in what it really means (see verse 7).
Jesus said there were two commandments we had to obey; “Love the Lord, your God,
with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength” and “Love your neighbor as
yourself.” This is the good law. Obey these two with all our being
and we don’t have to worry about all the legalistic interpretations.
Celebrate your freedom by worshiping the Lord with Joy and
Thanksgiving.
PRAYER: O God of
Goodness and Mercy, may I live my life today and every day as a testimony to
your great love for me and my love for you.
Amen.
See you in Church
Sunday,
Pastor
Sandy
