SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: Ephesians 4:17-24

PSALM OF THE WEEK: Psalm 102:1-12

HYMN OF THE DAY: CH# 463 “Renew Your Church”

VERSE OF THE DAY: You were taught to put away your former way of life your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lust, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to clothe yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24 NRSV

Isn’t it sad when Christians act just like everyone else?  It happens whenever Board members want to keep “God” and “Faith” out of the “business” of the church.  It happens whenever members want to hold grudges and not forgive their fellow church members.  It happens whenever people want a “cheap grace” (as the German martyr Dietrich Bonheoffer called it) that allows them to do what ever they wish to whomever they wish without having to reconcile their actions with their faith (or lack of it).  We are taught to be better than that in our lives in Christ.  The Bible teaches us to live out our faith in everything we do, in church and in the rest of our lives as well.  We have been created in God’s image (see Genesis 1:27) and have been reconciled to God through the sacrifice that Christ’s made for us (see 2 Corinthians 5:18).  We have to live that way.  We simply have no choice.

PRAYER: O God who made me, reconciled me, and calls me into an ever living faith; may I truly live my life like I believe everything you say and do, and not like those who are away from you.  The temptation is always great to go back to the evil or selfish ways of this world.  Help me overcome in your name and for your glory. Amen.

See you in Church Sunday,

Pastor Sandy
